Meet mike pond

I'm a labor organizer, communicator, and lifelong Southwest Washington advocate. As an organizer with SEIU 775, the home care workers union, I've sat at kitchen tables learning about the woeful inadequacy of our healthcare system, walked picket lines, and helped working people build the power to win real improvements in their lives. Before that, I organized with Fuse Washington and handled communications and marketing at Clark College and ADCO Printing, and was a member of UFCW 555 so I’ve built the coalition necessary to achieve real, lasting results for the people of Clark County.

I serve my community as an elected Democratic Precinct Officer and 49th LD Executive Officer, and through the Vancouver Charter Review, the Labor Roundtable, the NAACP, Indivisible, the Neighborhood Alliance, and on the board of the Queer Community Network. I'm an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Western Washington University, Clark College, and Leadership Clark County, and I volunteer with the Clark County Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and Friends of Trees. I’ve built the fellowship needed to understand the fundamental needs of our most vulnerable residents.

I'm running because working families here are being priced out and left behind. Costs are outpacing wages, classrooms are overcrowded, and too many people are one emergency away from crisis. I support taxing the ultra-wealthy and large corporations to lower taxes for families and small businesses, while investing in education, affordable housing, environmental protections, and pro-choice healthcare. I'll push to replace the I-5 bridge with an option that includes real light-rail transit. We deserve a representative who shows up with integrity, listens, collaborates, and delivers results. I'll be that representative.
